Qualitative market research is open and dynamic, with the emphasis on interviews with experts and group questioning. It is mostly used to understand how a target group will think in certain areas where there is little current knowledge available in this respect. Random samples are kept deliberately small in qualitative market research and selection is based on a deliberate pattern. Qualitative market research can be carried out as an independent study or in preparation for quantitative opinion surveys.
